The districts up for election are District A, District C, and District E. Districts A, C, and E will be elected for 4 year terms. Mail ballots will be sent the week of October 11.

Steve Lee has been driving buses and trucks for a long time. What initially drew him to drive a school bus for the Durango School District 9-R was the hours and benefits. The shifts are typically two hours in the morning and three in the afternoon, which also happens to be enough to earn full benefits, and give him time to run his business during the day.

During the month of September, our schools, students and staff have been steadfast in ensuring we maintain our mitigation measures, decreasing chances of outbreaks of COVID-19 in our schools, and increasing the chances of keeping schools open and safe.

The League of Women voters of La Plata County will host a Durango 9-R School District Director Candidate Forum on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 6:00-7:30PM via Zoom.

Dear 9-R Families, Thank you for all that you are doing to support safe and healthy schools during this academic year. In order to further support in person learning, we are offering weekly COVID-19 testing through the school district.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an undeniably difficult situation for many in our community and in our nation over the past 19 months. We know that many of our students will require a significant amount of attention to address academic learning loss, and social-emotional needs both due to the pandemic as well as other factors.

This information is intended to provide additional clarification on the access that individuals, who are not employees of Durango School District 9-R, may have to our buildings. These guidelines are subject to revision based upon changing health and environmental conditions.

On Monday, September 20, 2021, in a Special Board Meeting, the 9-R Board of Education interviewed three potential candidates for the vacant position in Director District D, selecting Katie Stewart as the appointed candidate.

The Board of Education meeting that was cancelled on August 24, 2021 has been rescheduled to September 7, 2021 starting at 5:30pm. This meeting will be streamed only, with no in-person audience. Public participants will participate via Zoom.
