With winter approaching, we want to remind parents and families of our Snow Day practices and policies.

9-R will be hosting vaccine clinics for Covid-19 Vaccine 2nd doses, in conjunction with San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH). Our elementary school based vaccine clinics will serve students, staff, and families of Durango School District 9-R. Vaccines will be available for 5-11 year olds, as well as teens and adults.

The next 9-R Board of Education Regular meeting is Tuesday, November 30, 2021 starting at 5pm. It is available for viewing on Zoom, and translation services are available for public participation. Please be sure to review the guidelines and deadlines for public participation if you wish to participate.

On August 18, 2021 a Contractor meet and greet was hosted by Emily Meisner with La Plata County Economic Development Alliance and Mary Shepherd with Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center, who with 9-R, have created the 9-R Bond to Business.

The 9-R Board of Education is hosting a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 starting at 6pm. The majority of the meeting is Executive Session, thus not open to the public.

DEF is hosting a Ski Raffle for a pair of adult skis and a pair of children skis donated by 2nd Ave Sports. Raffle tickets are just $20 to enter to win both pairs of skis. Drawing will take place on December 16th at 12PM.

Join the DHS Native American Club for an evening of Native American Literacy and a Thanksgiving potluck. Janine Gibbons is a Native American artist and book illustrator and will present her life story. A number of other books by Native American authors will be given out to 9-R students.

Last week, the CDC recommended the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11. Now, everyone in the Durango community ages 5 and older is eligible to be vaccinated and can help protect themselves and their loved ones against COVID-19. The approval of the COVID-19 vaccine for young children is an important step to helping reduce our risk for infection and transmission in our schools and our community.

Every month the school district strives to compile updates and information for families and the community regarding the impacts of COVID-19 in schools. We are grateful for the continued support of our mitigation efforts, which have allowed schools to remain open. Thank you to all our students, staff and families for their perseverance and diligence.
