Mobile Earth and Space Observatory (MESO) is Returning to Durango

Join us December 3rd and 5th as astrophysicists and astronomers from the Mobile Earth and Space Observatory (MESO) lead students of all ages through hands-on activities where participants explore space science using real science equipment. All afterschool programs are FREE and open to 9R and non-9R students.

Halloween and Fall Festivals are Back After Pandemic Hiatus

Halloween is just around the corner, and soon many schools throughout the district will be hosting activities, costume parades, and extracurricular events.

Fall festivals are often organized by the school’s PTO and many are fundraisers that support staff, students, and the schools.

Stepping Up To Help Kids

Kelly Duvall is the personification of an Empathetic Collaborator, says Tony Roderick, Assistant Principal at Florida Mesa Elementary (FME). “She just volunteered to take over a very difficult situation. Our newest 1st grade teacher resigned the day before school started” he says. “Kelly volunteered to take on the long-term sub responsibilities as a wonderful teammate, as well as making sure these students have a quality experience in their first few weeks of school.”

FIRST LEGO League Robotics Teams Forming Now

It's time to sign up for FIRST LEGO League global robotics program for kids. The Durango School District 9-R FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program is coordinated by the Powerhouse Science Center.
