Dear Parents,

We are also grateful for the support of the community in supporting Bond 4A.  The Bond has passed and will provide much needed funding for capital improvements and projects across the district.  At Florida Mesa, we will benefit from a more secure vestibule/entrance, maintenance on the exterior and interior of our building including painting, drywall and stucco repairs, roofing and heating/cooling upgrades, and much more.  THANK YOU to the community of Durango and our Florida Mesa family for passing this much needed bond.

We wanted to remind everyone of the importance of good attendance, when your child is symptom-free!  We recognize that there are many times that students are needing to stay home as their symptoms resolve or under the direction of their doctor or San Juan Basin Health, however if your child is symptom-free THEY NEED TO BE AT SCHOOL.   Students who come to school regularly generally have more positive feelings about school, and make expected academic progress.  If your child must miss school, please know that their teacher will be reaching out with their make up work.  Students will need to complete and return assignments for all days missed.  When students don’t make up their missed learning, they fall behind and it can be challenging to catch up.  Please support your child in completing all work that teachers send home when they are absent so they can return to school with the knowledge they need to continue learning with the rest of their peers.

We appreciate the continued understanding when we call to have your child picked up with symptoms.  Our diligence in managing students and staff with symptoms has allowed us to continue with in-person learning.  When you are called, we do need you to pick up your child or make arrangements for them to be picked up within 30 minutes.  This will ensure that contact with a symptomatic individual is minimized.  Thank you for having a plan for how to pick up your child promptly when called.

We wish each of you and your family a wonderful November!  As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns at any time.

Sincerely,

Shannon Morris, Principal
