Dear Florida Mesa Families,

We celebrate “The Arts” in general this month as we recognize how important they are in the development of our students. In Durango School District 9-R, we are fortunate the arts are valued and remain a high priority in education. We want to take this time to thank all of our teachers of the arts, Anne Newman and Andie Huml, as well as our students the “artists” for brightening our educational day with their creativity.

SAVE THE DATE: Celebration of Learning Monday, March 18, 1:30-6:00 p.m.: Florida Mesa will host spring student, parent, teacher conferences in the Celebration of Learning format.  This is a chance for students to own their learning by showing you their data folders, recent assignments, and sharing some of their goals for the remainder of the year. If you feel that it would be most beneficial to have a one-on-one conference, please communicate with your child’s homeroom teacher.

Colorado Measures of Academic Success: Our annual state testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will take place April 8th-19th, 2019.  We are pleased to announce that with the addition of Chromebooks and improved wireless our site based testing was reduced by 3-4 weeks.  YAHOOO!  Please DO NOT schedule appointments or other activities during testing dates.  This will prevent your student from having to complete make-ups.

Fondly,

Vanessa Giddings, Principal
