Dear Florida Mesa families,

Visitor Monitoring System:  This week we were the first Durango School District 9-R campus to implement the RAPTOR system.  Our primary responsibility is to maintain a safe atmosphere, so that students can learn at the highest levels.  This system allows us to verify who is visiting the school.  As always, we welcome families to participate in our school and the system will not limit your access to your child.  It simply helps us maintain a safe environment.  Please contact the office staff directly with any questions or concerns that you may have.

SAVE THE DATE: Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences are approaching quickly!  We will host them on Monday, November 5, 2018 and Monday, November 12, 2018.  Please watch for a scheduled time from your child’s classroom teacher.  This meeting is essential so that we can work together as a team to support your children in their learning.  The students are the most important part of the conference, so please make sure they are able to attend with you during your scheduled time.  The conference is a celebration of learning and a time to coordinate goals and future support for your child.

Trick-or-Treat: Our PTO is sponsoring a festive event to celebrate Halloween.  All are welcome to participate in the Trick-or-Treat Bash on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  In order to maintain a welcoming learning culture the Trick-or-Treat Bash is the event and the venue for students to dress-up in appropriate costumes.  There are no costumes allowed during the school day on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.  Thank you for understanding and for joining our Halloween event sponsored by PTO.

Families are the most important role-models in the lives of children.  We thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning, and we appreciate your participation in our school.  We are impressed with the community that makes Florida Mesa a special place for everyone, and we are thankful for the opportunity to support students, teachers, and families as we continue our pursuit of excellence.

Warmly,

Vanessa Giddings, Principal

Shannon Morris, Assistant Principal
