Annie's Orphans, a dog kenneling and rescue organization and no kill shelter, has helped hundreds of dogs recover from past trauma and many have found wonderful homes thanks to the organization. The students at Florida Mesa were interested in supporting the non-profit's mission and asked its school community to help! The Florida Mesa student council community group focused on this effort, and placed boxes in each classroom at the school to encourage donations. The winning classroom who made the most donations would win a special prize!
After a few weeks working on collecting donations, with the generosity of students and families at Florida Mesa, the student council was able to personally deliver around 320 items to Annie's Orphans, including blankets, food, treats and toys! They stayed to hear from Anna, the owner of Annie's Orphans, about how they came to be, how they support and rescue dogs and how they rely on the community to keep going. Andra Fraga, Cara Bard,Bailey Gaskins, Preston Brizzee, Lily Brown and Harper Burgess made the trip to deliver the items with Principal and sponsor, Vanessa Fisher.
Way to go, Florida Mesa! Making a positive impact in our community and for our animals.
