Dear Parents and Students,

Durango School District 9-R, along with all schools in Colorado and across the nation, are facing significant budget shortfalls next year and beyond.   The district is hosting a virtual Public Budget Review Meeting on May 27th from 5-7 pm, and you are invited to learn more and provide feedback.  The meeting can accommodate 500 participants and WILL also be recorded and posted to the district website for later viewing.  We hope you are able to either attend the meeting or watch the recording to learn more about the financial challenges that lie ahead.

Registration for the 20-21 school year is currently open.  Current families, new families, incoming kindergarten families, and preschool families ALL need to register for next year.   Current families need to log into their Parent Infinite Campus account to update records and confirm attendance for the 2020/21 school year. New families, including incoming kindergartners, can click HERE to register. Preschool registration is also open and can be accessed HERE.  Please complete your registration as soon as possible as it provides us with important information as we are planning for next year. 


THIS WEEK, please plan to use the drop off/pick up lane to RETRIEVE your students’ school and personal items from Florida Mesa. You should also plan to RETURN all library books and/or Chromebooks/chargers at the same time.  If you will need the Chromebook to complete the last week’s set of work, you may also drop off Chromebooks on June 1st or 2nd.  Please honor social distancing and wear a mask in order to keep everyone safe during the retrieval and returning process. 


Please plan to come during your OLDEST child’s grade level pick up day/time and we will return items for all of your students together.  Be prepared to let the drive-up attendant know your student’s name(s), grade level(s), and homeroom teacher(s) as you come through the drop off/pick up line.  The schedule will be as follows:

  • Tuesday, May 26th, 10 am-1 pm, 5th grade
  • Wednesday, May 27th, 10 am-1 pm, 4th and 3rd grade
  • Thursday, May 28th, 10 am-1 pm, 2nd grade
  • Friday, May 29th, 10 am-1 pm, 1st grade, Kindergarten and Preschool
  • Monday, June 1st, 8 am-3 pm, Chromebook drop off only: Ring the bell and a staff member will retrieve the Chromebook from you.
  • Tuesday, June 2nd, 8 am-3 pm, Chromebook drop off only: Ring the bell and a staff member will retrieve the Chromebook from you.

We will also have items from LOST & FOUND hanging on the fence along the drive through lane.
